Summer is finally here! Your family is planning on going on
this huge road trip this summer, but is your car ready? The heat, long rides,
and heavy loads can put strain on your car. So, before you pull out of the
driveway, follow these tips to make sure your vehicle is road trip-ready.
· Make sure the radiator core is in good shape. In places where the roads are salted, the radiator can literally rot away. Even if your radiator isn’t leaking now, that doesn’t mean it wont later. A leaking radiator will cause you engine to overheat, which can cause blown gaskets and warped cylinder heads.
· Give your tires a thorough check-over. The tire pressure should be what your vehicle manufacture recommends. If you have a heavy load, follow the heavy load guidelines for tire pressure. You also need to check your tread wear. Keep an eye out for uneven wear patters. You should get a wheel alignment. You should replace your tires when the tread depth is close to or below 3/32 of an inch.
· Make sure you keep up on your oil changes. If you are driving a Toyota make sure you are using genuine Toyota parts. Driving long distances really pushes your engine. It needs all the lubrication it can get. The current recommendation is to change the oil every 5,000 miles
· Slow down. When you are pulling a heavy load and traveling at high speeds, it puts a strain on your engine. Slow down and look at the scenery.
Keep these tips in mind as you prepare for your trip. If you arrange things before your trip, you will have smooth sailing as you ride to your destination.

A good car care tip is that you must take care of every auto parts that your car has. Summer is a different kind of season, so you must be able to really get thru with it without having your car takes it's toll on the performance.
