What is Toyota really thinking about plug-in cars? Its easy
to say that there are mixed feelings within the company. There a few minor
things that will have to be fixed with the idea, like the extra weight of dead
batteries. The battery durability
will have to be guaranteed with a long-term warranty. And the frames will have
to be larger and heavier to hold the battery weight.
After all the kinks are smoothed out. The plug-in car will
add on to the many cars in hybrid technology. Toyota spokesman John Hanson
comments on the use of this new car. “For many consumers with short
commutes of 10 miles or less … a ‘Super Prius’ will be an attractive option,”
he said, adding that the company thinks there could be a viable market for
plug-in hybrids “that could get more robust as battery technology improves and
costs go down. We continue to spend millions on R & D.”
Toyota could soon be the leader of plug-in hybrids. The use of Toyota OEM Parts in this new hybrid can forever change the world of car dealers going green.
